OK, here’s the skinny on this year’s Gypsylicious. I have decided that I want to change the format of the show/event. What I would like to do is create a showcase similar to what we did on July 9th. I feel the show was very successful in terms of artistry and professionalism, (thank you Marjhani and Oojam!!! As well as Selenya, Helen and Jacqueline). I think it would be a lot more fun to do a show that focuses on the “production” aspects of a show.
I enjoyed Gypsylicious immensely last year, and that’s not to say that I wouldn’t consider having the same format again. For me, busy as I am being a mommy, working full time, teaching, and directing Burning Incense, the showcase format works a little easier into my lifestyle . We have access to a great old theater up here and in the future would definitely advertise more and let the Belly Dance community know more about it. This last show we did on the 9th was a little experiment for me, and I think it went off real well.
I will keep everyone updated on the date Gypsylicious 2007 as soon as it becomes available to me. As of yet I do not have a theme I am working with, but I am open to suggestions. As always, interested participants may contact me to have their names added to an assembled list of performers.
